NAGESH KUKUNOOR'S DHANAK RECEIVES WARM RECEPTION AT BUSAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Mumbai, October 9, 2015: After bagging two awards at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival, Nagesh Kukunoor’s Dhanak (Rainbow) made its Asian premiere at the Busan International Film Festival 2015.

Busan International Film Festival is held annually at Busan, South Korea, since 1996 and is one of Asia's most prestigious film festivals.

The premiere of the film received a warm reception and the audience cheered right through the end credits.

The film has received several distribution queries since the screening at Busan. Drishyam Films feels it is a positive sign as preparations are on in full swing for the film's upcoming India release, slated for January 20, 2016.

Nagesh Kukunoor, director, Dhanak says,  "Dhanak's dream run continues! To be given a chance to screen at Busan is a wonderful honor. March on Chotu and Pari!"

Shiladitya Bora, CEO Drishyam Films: "We are delighted to have the film's Asian premiere at Busan. Busan has a fantastic film market with a diverse and engaging audience presence. We are excited about having received quite a few distribution queries from various territories."

The award-winning film produced by Drishyam Films had its world premiere earlier this year at the prestigious film festival, Berlinale, where it bagged The Grand Prix for the best feature-length film and the Special Mention for the best feature film by The Children's Jury for Generation Kplus.

About the film:

The film which stars, Hetal Gada and Krrish Chhabria in the lead roles is about an eight-year-old blind boy whose 10-year-old sister promises him that he will get his vision back before he turns 9. The film follows the duo on a magical journey through the sand dunes of Rajasthan. The film also stars theatre actors, Vipin Sharma and Vibha Chhiber in the prominent roles.

Like Iqbal, Dhanak also explores the beautiful relationship of a brother and sister and the central character suffers from a disability, but in a dramatically diverse setting. This is also Nagesh’s second film with children after the much acclaimed Rockford.
