Shahid goes Chameleon, again!

Shahid Kapoor, along with co-star Kangana Ranaut, director Vishal Bhardwaj and a braveheart unit, has just returned from a gruelling three-week schedule of Rangoon.

The Casablanca-like love story is set during the Second World War, and producer Sajid Nadiadwala, managed a coup of sorts by getting permission to shoot in virgin locales of Arunachal Pradesh where the Indo-Burma border was recreated.

The crew was staying in a hotel in Rottung and while the locations are picture-perfect, the living conditions were at best spartan even for the stars.

But neither of them complained, even though Kangana is playing a diva of the '40s. Even the nawab, Saif Ali Khan, who was down for a couple of days, soldiered through long drives to and between Pasighat, Rottung and Kibang, sometimes an eight nine-hour journey one way, and long treks through jungles.

Since the sun rises in the east, days dawned early and it was action from 4 am. But they also packed up early, around 4-5 pm, once the light faded. And as there wasn't much to do except for work, everyone would be in bed by 8 pm.

Shahid couldn't skip his workouts as he plays a soldier in the film and needed to be in peak physical condition for the action scenes. He's never been fitter.

Vishal Bharadwaj's Rangoon also marks Shahid's hatrick with the director who has already worked on 2 hit films previously!

Rangoon is produced by filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala and features Shahid with Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles. The film is all set to release on October 14, 2016.

MUMBAI, NOVEMBER 3, 2015:

On Tuesday, November 3rd, Jio MAMI 17th Mumbai Film Festival with Star India brought together distinguished women from Indian and international cinema. Shabana Azmi, Vidya Balan, Kangana Ranaut, Kiran Rao, Anupama Chopra and American filmmaker Ava DuVernay took part in a conversation on Women in Film that was powered by Lifebuoy and their initiative ‘Help a Child Reach 5′ that examined the position of women in film today.
The session commenced with the screening of a moving film about Lifebuoy’s ‘Help a Child Reach 5’ initiative. Made by acclaimed director Anand Gandhi, the film which deals with the issue of infant mortality left the audience visibly touched. The discussion was then kicked off by Anuvab Pal who moderated the conversation and touched upon important topics ranging from the relation between gender and characters to the wage disparity that still remains prevalent across many industries.
In response to a question, Kangana Ranaut expressed, “I feel it’s not about female or male centric characters, it is about a character that has lived and been loved.”
Vidya Balan shares her views stating that, “I have seen growth and I am happy with it. You have to look at the journey and not the destination.”
Talking about the portrayal of women in films, actor Shabana Azmi said, “It has been left to parallel cinema to portray women with any kind of complexity”.
Ava DuVernay spoke about the issues women face in Hollywood and said, “There is a definite kind of film a woman is allowed to make”. She then added, “because of economics women are not given the budget or trust to make films apart from romantic comedy.”
Kiran Rao also expressed that “women must stand up and know their worth and their value”
The panel was preceded by a brunch that celebrated women in film. Attended by women at the top of their game in media and film, the occasion was made even more special by Sula Vineyards which did a tasting of their new sparkling wine- Brut Tropicale.

Kangana Ranaut and Miss India UK Deana Uppal get fantastic reviews for Revolver Rani

The Action Hero is an iconic fixture of Hindi cinema, so much so that even a partial roll call of actors who have made their bones in such roles could outlast a montage of every movie scene. But while you can’t throw a curiously ineffective frag grenade or unleash a burst of machine gun fire without nearly hitting an actor who has done a stint or two in the Action Hero role but now the female Action Hero or first woman 'hero' as it can be said is “Kangana Ranaut as Revolver Rani” is in the town and had made crazy about her conical bras, wild, curly hair and proudly sports a sun-kissed, tanned look. With a revolver as her weapon of choice, she sports army jackets, salwar and combat boots. She's loud, crass and violent. Set in the badlands of interior Madhya Pradesh, Sai Kabir’s directorial debut follows Alka Singh (Kangana Ranaut), a feared dacoit, as she navigates the murky world of politics and the murkier world of love. Revolver Rani Starring Debut actress Miss India UK Deana Uppal is all new for Bollywood but the bold and beautiful actress has proved that new comers can also beat the experienced ones. The actress has won accolades from all over for her debut movie. She touched heart with her simple yet powerful performance.

Revolver Rani is a rom com which goes into the deadly world of goons, where guns speak in volume. The film flits from the personal to the political, the emotional to the egregious, and the absurd to the deadly serious. For the most part, Revolver Rani hits the bull’s eye. Movie critic of HelloMumbai said, “The characterisation of the characters in the land of dead is mostly humourous. Alka loves ‘phasion’ and so she loves designer metallic bra from Italy which only she could dare to don. She even is differently wild when wants to play with her ‘toy boy’ Rohan. Such is the psychology of Alka who is least bothered about what people say about her. Deana Uppal had done a brilliant job in the movie.”

According to Dubaitoday, “After watching it you realize that you are watching a desi version of Kill Bill in Revolver Rani. It’s got Quentin Tarantino written all over each and every sequence, the director having broken the film down into just that — a series of well-orchestrated sequences. And in tune with director Sai Kabir's aesthetic inspiration, Revolver Rani exudes Tarantino style pulpy kitsch, much to the amusement of an unsuspecting Indian audience. Deana Uppal is pretty, and has a large and expressive pair of eyes and got audience glued on her others were not able to make their impact.”

BombaySamachar said, “Revolver Rani is a commendably tantalizing attempt for Bollywood. Kangana’s calling it shots (quite literally) paired with her wicked conniving smile is tempting. The narrative in its illustrious moments lures us into its absorbing premises before turning languid.  Deana Uppal looks beautiful and acts confidently. Though the product was made with a more competent vision in mind, the execution wasn’t tempered correctly which makes the film fall a few notches. For the mettlesome imagination, Revolver Rani makes for a gripping watch.” Other Rating given by Critics are Rediff: 2.5/5, NDTV: 3.5/5, MID DAY: 3/5, DNA: 2/5, India Today: 4.5/5, Times of India: 3.5/5, Filmytown: 2.5/5 and Taran Adarsh: 2.5/5.

Miss India UK Deana Uppal “Lamborghini” car gets her arrested

How a person spends their money can be a strong indication of what that person is like. Some spend their cash on multiple apartments in different cities. Some buy one giant house in the middle of nowhere. Some purchase companies or invest, hoping to save their estates for their heirs. And then there is our type of person: the ones that spend all of the free time and money on cars.

There is a love that can bring people from all different circles to one comfortable place: behind a steering wheel. Stars know how to keep up appearances. So while there are designer clothes and high-end gadgets at their disposal at all times, they cruise around in swanky, imported cars. Indian celebs are no different when it comes to spending on luxury cars many of Bollywood beauties love driving in luxury, and by luxury we mean some very expensive and cool rides like Priyanka Chopra has a Porsche, Katrina Kaif has a passion for F1 and owns a full-size luxury SUV Audi Q7, Kareena Kapoor owns an SUV Lexus LX 470, Kangna Ranaut bought herself a BMW 7 Series and Bipasha Basu has brand new Beetle that she calls 'Brad'. Recently Reality TV star Miss India UK Deana Uppal got a brand new White Lamborghini Aventador Roadster where she was arrested for driving in speed Deana was spotted cruising in her beloved car around the streets of london.

This busy woman has just finished the action packed fear factor “Khatron ke  Khiladi” where she has overcome her fear and also has a new movie coming out on April 25th called Revolver Rani, starring Kangana Ranaut and Vir Das. She was also shooting a film in jaipur named Life Non Veg. The film is a comedy with Deana as the main lead with VJ Siddharth Bhardwaj.

Deana Uppal said, “I was driving slightly over the limit when I was stopped by police and fined ' the car is still new and I am still getting used to handling such a big machine. I will be more careful in the future to stay within speed limits.    I am really a car fan and plan to get a few more in the future.”
